Sitting around a bonfire at a family reunion we got to talking about the problems in the world today. Especially those that today’s children are facing. Someone asked, what are you going to do about it? If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. With the suggestion of writing children’s books we were inspired. We had a cookout a few weeks later and someone came up with an idea for a book.
Everyone added some ideas. Before we knew it we had a book. The idea to publish it came up. Since we were all involved we decided to form a group. That’s when Hoopieville Books was formed. Like a first time parent, we had no idea how to go about it. After weeks of research we chose a publisher – Blueberry Illustrations. We perfected our book and decided to go for it and sent our manuscript to the publisher. That is the short version of our journey.
We enjoy working as a group. We each add to someone’s idea until we get it the way we want it. This way we feel like we can produce a quality book that children will enjoy and maybe even pick up a life lesson from. We currently have several manuscripts ready that we plan to publish. We hope that children and their parents will enjoy our first book, Practice Practice Practice and follow us on Facebook and Twitter and let us know what you think. And keep an eye out for more quality books from Hoopieville Books.
